For those of us who voted ‘stay’ and are still reeling from the country’s decision to leave the EU, there may be a glimmer of hope for those of us who have heard of Glam Rock. Not that the Band or the era is back, but glitz is certainly big on the catwalk this season.
If we are still under the sway of our elders disapproving eye where glitz is concerned, and are still determined to invest in corduroy and tweets for Autumn, you can still add a bit of sparkly to your wardrobe with shiny heels or handbags, jewellery and accessories.
Let’s face it, how many of us would love to return to our ‘girlie’ days when glitter was just a recognised statement of our wardrobe, and our dreams were multi-coloured shades of perfect pink.
We saw this return to glamour when the brightest gowns donned the red carpet at the Emmys recently which came from high-end fashion houses like Prada and Schiaparelli. These looks were fun, funky and fabulous.
But the look is not just for the rich and famous, and for those of you are pluckier with your gear, then you really can go for broke with the seasonal high street beauties – way before the party season really sets in.
If you want to ease into the glitz arena, you can start by investing in a pair of Swarovski earrings, and there are some stunning pieces from this classy brand.
If you are more daring, and don’t mind the scathing stares of anti-blingites, then go for the sequin trend and get sewing on ripped jeans or T-shirts.
There are also some great nail art glitter options – just check your local nail boutique and be outrageous – start with one nail if you are wary and build up to Christmas.

Check out New York London Fashion Week there was a big come back in sparkle. This is definitely the season to shine in every way – and we should embrace our inner Magpie and shimmer into Fall.
