Marty Wilde – Running Together

Marty Wilde – Running Together

Iconic British music stalwart, Marty Wilde, announces release of fresh new single, ahead of exciting new album and a 50-date UK tour…

Marty Wilde – Running Together – TITLE TRACK FROM THE FORTHCOMING ALBUM

Running Together

Marty Wilde MBE, the 50s teen heartthrob who notched-up x4 Top 5 UK hits by the age of 20, and remains an iconic stalwart throughout the industry, unveils the stunning new title-track from his forthcoming album, ‘Running Together’. The album features Marty’s two daughters, Roxanne Rizzo Wilde and the Brit award winning Kim Wilde, plus son Ricky who completed the picture with a wonderful arrangement of the last track on the album called ‘Eddie’ which is a special tribute to Eddie Cochran.

Marty, Roxanne, Kim and the Wildcats

A complete family affair, ‘Running Together’ inspired the family to create their very own rock-down in lockdown video – perfectly socially distanced, yet rockin’ together, alongside the Wildcats.  The single hotfoots Marty’s forthcoming new album of original material, ‘Running Together’, and sets the tone for a 50-date UK live tour (delayed due to lockdown, but now rescheduled for 2021).

Showcasing Marty’s distinctive vocals, ‘Running Together’, is a compelling, catchy, radio-friendly track, sprinkled with the magical melodic essence of the 60s.  A sound from now, that somehow sounds so familiar, that you can’t help sticking it onto ‘repeat play’.  Planned for release this Spring, alongside the start of Marty’s 2020 UK tour, ‘Running Together’ was forced into shielding by the virus lockdown; and suddenly the Wilde families creative genius kicked into action.  Marty, Roxanne, Kim and the Wildcats, all performed to iPhones in their separate gardens, coming together in one spectacular video; a testament to the ingenuity and adversity of the Wilde clan.

‘Running Together’ precedes Marty’s forthcoming epic new album of a vinyl-busting 15 original tracks, written or co-written by Marty, performed by himself and the family.

A melodic hand-picked journey of tracks, which weave their way through the musical tapestry of Marty’s life, ‘Running Together’ is a historical storybook of pop throughout the ages. It’s a collection which Marty has always wanted to record – a lifetime in the making, with songs that stand the test of time

‘Running Together’ is a song that traverses generations.  Shrink-wrapping a zesty touch of the 60s and delivering it field-fresh into 2020.

The Album – Released 2nd October 2020

Chicken Goujons in a Parmigiano-Reggiano and Oregano Crust

Chicken Goujons in a Parmigiano-Reggiano and Oregano Crust

Britain’s love affair with chicken seems to be a lasting one. Since the end of post-war rationing, Britain experienced a steady increase in consumption of poultry. Nowadays chicken meat is more or less a staple, not least due to the popularity of fast food restaurants and their chicken nuggets. Usually combined with French fries, chicken nuggets or goujons, can however make a wonderful pairing with healthy salad. The goujons are easy to cook and just as fast to prepare at home than waiting in line to fetch takeout. Another bonus is that you will know exactly what’s in your food. For best meat quality, opt for organic, free-range meat to ensure best flavour quality and rearing practice.

This home-made version of chicken nuggets boasts with authentic ingredients and full flavours, pairing nutty, umami Parmigiano-Reggiano and fragrant oregano with succulent chicken breast. Serve on a bed of mixed leaf salad and lunch is sorted.

Ingredients:

For 2 portions

2 free-range chicken breasts, approx. 145g each, cut into 11-12 pieces

1 medium-sized egg

5 heaped tbsp. finely grated Parmigiano-Reggiano

5 tbsp. bread crumbs

2 tbsp. flour

1heaped tsp. oregano

1 clove of garlic

Salt, pepper and dried chili flakes to taste

Vegetable or olive oil for frying

Mixed leaf salad and cucumber to serve (Dressing: Extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice, mustard, salt, pepper)

What you’ll need:

Chopping board, ideally glass for handling the raw meat

Large kitchen knife

3 deep plates/ bowls

1 regular plate

Grater

Fork

Teaspoon

Tablespoon

Frying pan (with lid)

Kitchen tongs or spatula

Kitchen roll (for drying off excess oil)

Baking tray, lined with non-stick baking paper

Small bowl (for salad dressing)

Method:

  1. Prepare the deep plates for battering the chicken strips. The first bowl contains flour. For the second bowl, crack an egg and use a fork to beat it. For the third bowl, mix breadcrumbs, Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, oregano, garlic, a pinch of salt and dried chili flakes as well as a dash of black pepper. Place a piece of kitchen roll on a plate which will dry off the excess oil from the chicken goujons after frying.
  2. Chop the chicken breast into 11-12 equally sized pieces.
  3. Note: Be careful when handling raw chicken. Do not wash the chicken breasts and keep them separate from cooked foods. Use separate kitchen utensils for raw poultry. When cleaning your kitchen utensils and work surfaces after handling raw meat, especially chicken, make sure to be as thorough as possible. Use antibacterial cleaner for all work surfaces and kitchen utensils to avoid any contamination (and cross-contamination) with salmonella or any other pathogens.
  4. Take each of the chicken strips with a pair of kitchen tongs and dip them first into the flour and then the beaten egg before rolling them in the breadcrumb and Parmesan mixture. Make sure that every bit of the chicken piece is covered.
  5. Heat up vegetable oil (or any other oil suitable for frying) in a frying pan (the pan should be covered in 1-1.5cm of oil). Fry the pieces until golden brown and use the tongs to turn them over.
  6. Note: The frying process may create some smoke and strong cooking smells, so make sure to cover the pan with a lid and have adequate ventilation systems in place, such as a range hood or an open window. The smell of frying oil can also penetrate clothes, so make sure to keep away any delicates from the kitchen during the cooking process.
  7. After frying, place the chicken goujons on a plate and dab off excess oil with kitchen roll.
  8. Pre-heat the oven to 180°C (fan)/ Gas mark 5. Place the chicken pieces on a baking tray and cook for a further 10 minutes in the oven. The chicken is cooked thoroughly as soon as it does not appear translucent and of a slightly pinkish colour anymore.
  9. Prepare a handful of mixed salad leaves per portion and mix 1 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil, 3 tbsp. water, 1 tbsp. lemon juice, ½ tsp. Dijon mustard and a dash of salt and pepper for the dressing. Divide the chicken goujons into two portions and add to the salad leaves. Drizzle with dressing and some more olive oil. Add a sprinkle of Parmigiano-Reggiano and garnish with cucumber slices.

‘Iceberg’ New Single by WILLS & THE WILLING featuring world renowned footballer, PETR CECH

‘Iceberg’ New Single by WILLS & THE WILLING featuring world renowned footballer, PETR CECH

‘Iceberg’ is the new great single by WILLS & THE WILLING  featuring world renowned footballer, PETR CECH, with the band’s brand new album ‘London Country’ following later in the Summer.
The new album also features a host of fantastic musicians including Sean Genockey (The Who, Manic Street Preachers, Kula Shaker), Mick Talbot (The Style Council, Dexys Midnight Runners) and Petr Cech on drums!

Wills & The Willing

Iceberg
Release date: 3rd July, 2020
from the forthcoming album ‘London Country’

Ian Wills has suffered child abuse, been a drug addict, made, lost and made a fortune, had a brush with Margaret Thatcher, got involved with the Royal Family, battled the most crushing of diseases, created and performed the most profound and beautiful poetry, and teamed up with Premier League football stars.
You couldn’t make it up…

In the first single ICEBERG to be taken from his forthcoming album LONDON COUNTRY, Ian Wills sings “I’ve never looked for perfection, Cos I know that I’m deeply flawed.” He is also incredibly honest, and this is just one reason why his confrontational and often stark use of language has elevated him to the position of one of Britain’s premier spoken word artists. Transferring these skills to a musical canvas with his band WILLS & THE WILLING has reaped praise from across the board including the likes of BBC Radio 2’s Janice Long, and even legendary guitarist Les Paul.

The new album features a host of fantastic musicians including Sean Genockey (The Who, Manic Street Preachers, Kula Shaker), Mick Talbot (The Style Council, Dexys Midnight Runners) and world-renowned goalkeeper Petr Cech!

Petr Cech

The Chelsea, Arsenal and Czech Republic legend is a keen drummer who has been taking lessons from none other than Queen’s Roger Taylor for more than a decade. You can see Petr playing the drums to ICEBERG here – https://youtu.be/N0dN9R87aAk. The new songs dig deep into a rich vein of cinematic influences, sometimes brutal, sometimes apocalyptic, always personal, and never hiding Ian’s own vulnerability that brings the stories to life.
The Worst Of Beginnings

Ian

Ian grew up in South London in the most impoverished circumstances imaginable. His dad was incredibly violent and gave out regular severe beatings. His mother was distant and harsh. By the age of 13 he was a heroin addict.

He would inject straight into a vein in his ankle so his school socks would hide any evidence of his habit. The problem with this ‘ingenious’ approach is that it completely fries your immune system and with so much poison being injected into a specific point the damage to Ian’s legs continues to this day, even though he managed to kick the habit after he’d attempted suicide for the first and only time when he was 15 years old.
Upsetting Thatcher’s Government

Spy Catcher

By the mid-1980s Ian was the consummate wheeler dealer and when Margaret Thatcher banned Spycatcher, the memoirs of former MI5 agent Peter Wright, Ian promptly flew to America, where the book was printed, and bought a job lot.

Selling them on the roadside dressed as Uncle Sam he gained some notoriety as he enjoyed the profits of those who would pay ‘stupid money’ to have a copy on their coffee tables. Mrs T was not impressed!
The Princess Diana Letters

James Hewitt

Having become a hugely successful businessman with his pharmaceutical consultancy companies, when Ian caught wind of James Hewitt hawking around his personal letters from Princess Diana he offered him $1,000,000 of his own money to purchase them, take them out of circulation and return them to her family.

Hewitt signed a contract which Ian still has, but then the merciless cad reneged on the deal and the letters went to a higher bidder, subsequently ending up on the front pages of every tabloid newspaper across the world.

Health problems have dogged Ian for much of his life, primarily as a result of his early addictions. He is immune suppressed, a condition which requires him to be administered Infliximab every 8 weeks via intravenous infusion. He has high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes. Last year he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. And yet he is the most positive and cheerful person you are ever likely to meet. As he says himself “I know I will always be driven, loving every minute that I can write, perform and knock down walls.”

With this summer’s release of the new album LONDON COUNTRY, Ian will be taking The Willing on tour with him to perform the new songs. The band will include drummer PETR CECH along with other fantastic musicians. Dates will be announced soon including a special London show at Under The Bridge, part of Chelsea FC’s ground, and even some shows in the USA where a certain RANDY JACKSON will be playing bass guitar after becoming a fan of Ian’s music and offering his services. The band were due to perform at Glastonbury this year but this has unfortunately now been cancelled due to the current world health crisis.

Ian

“There is a always some part of me in the songs, the good and bad come out in equal measures, I seem to never forget my failings only my victories as a poet and lyricist. That helps keep me searching and I do write most days, always looking for an answer to a question yet to be asked.”
