Imagine a world…
… in which love and respect were the prevailing powers.
‘Jeans for Refugees’ is a Johny Dar project and artistic fundraising initiative dedicated to helping refugees around the world, with all proceeds going to the International Rescue Committee.
One hundred celebrities are participating in “Jeans for Refugees’ by donating a pair of their jeans to be painted by Johny Dar. Each pair of jeans is hand painted and being auctioned online at catawiki.com/jeansforrefugees. All one hundred pairs of jeans will be exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery in London from 24th October culminating in an auction event on the 30th October, when bidding will close. All proceeds raised will be donated to the International Rescue Committee (rescue.org).
Celebrities like Sharon Stone, Kate Moss, Pink and Elle MacPherson have donated their Jeans, as these icons lead the way in uniting the World for one common cause – equal rights for all human beings.
How Jean oriented are you? Now that Jeans have become part of our staple wardrobe, a bit like broccoli with food, we are going to take you to some great Jean locations to give you the chance to share Jeans with the stars, and we don’t mean of the silver screen. We mean all of you as YOU can wear jeans whatever your age and shape, and kick ass whatever your life mission or inclination.
Do not make the mistake of buying a size larger to make you look smaller, as it has the opposite effect. Try the old fashioned method of squeezing into a pair of jeans, even lying on the floor to get into them. The tighter the jean the slimmer you become. For a more flattering look if you have shorter legs, go high waisted – think Marilyn Monroe and Brigitte Bardot. If your middle is rounder than you want, try some elastic around the waistline as long as the legs are snug, you will achieve the affect. Remember no pain no gain, and that is true where real jeans are concerned.
Throw serious money at a pair of jeans, as jeans are for life, and £150 upwards is not a lot for an investment of this kind. After all they will last for years, and the more worn the better.
Having said that, if you shop today you can get up to 50% off jeans if you go onto www.houseoffraser.co.uk/sale – and even if you miss the window, it is a great website to check out offers across brands.
For the ultra trendy go onto www.g-star.com/jeans where you will find some amazing offers on jeans and denim.
Go to www.levi.com where you can check out the type of jean for your shape and size.
But this is where online shopping isn’t an option, as you will have to get your skinny or not so skinny butts out of the house to actually try on the best jeans for you. So check out the websites for ideas, but do not buy online or on spec.
It may be old fashioned, but the stiff denim is back and so are you – so get out there, feel the burn and feel proud of your newly found swagger.
