Luxurious Lingerie – Beauty Comes From Within

Luxurious Lingerie – Beauty Comes From Within

Several years ago when going through a breakup and major self image crisis which comes with the territory, a close friend advised me to look at the situation as a new beginning. She also guided me in the direction of luxurious lingerie, to help make me feel special even though I had nobody to share it with – but to look and feel sexy – for my own self esteem.

I was guilty of the usual suspects with Tshirt bras from Primark or throwaway knickers from Tescos, and so decided to up my game and look into some of the more glamorous labels so that I would feel less frumpy and far more fabulous.

I had like many of us been brought up on the Bridget Jones style of knickers from my Mum, who to this day when I stay with her overnight puts out a pair of like style pants together with my towel and looks disapprovingly at anything less that 12 inches in diameter in the underwear department.

Talking of Departments, whilst exploring this new world of undies, my first port of call was John Lewis, where I was advised I could be measured for a good fitting bra, and that they had the best range of gorgeous lingerie.

The assistant was a delightful lady in her late seventies or more, who went to great lengths to make sure that she provided me with over an hour of complete one to one dedication – insisting that she show me all of the ranges of lingerie available, after telling me about the wonders of underwear.  She felt so strongly that she blamed the lack of care in this area to all the breakups and divorces as she said ‘women had in recent years disregarded this little secret’.  Bless her heart, I was so taken with her that I came out with a beautiful Bravissimo pink bra and pant set I still have in my possession after five years, and so quality really does prevail.

Another amazing find is Design Also in St Paul’s Road, Islington.  The staff will take great care in fitting you for your perfect bra, and ensure that you are completely satisfied with the shape and design.  Ignore the immediate chaos as you enter the shop, as the service outweighs the décor, and makes it all worthwhile.

If you want to go for ultra glam, then Rigby and Peller has the most exquisite range of basques, bras, bodies and garters. You can also book an appointment with a representative who will point you in the right direction with your selection and you will come out feeling a million dollars (without spending as much).

If you are going for the ultra sexy, Agent Provocateur is high in distinguee. Their exceptional range is guaranteed to make you feel fantastic, and ranges from the more demur to the outright steaming hot designs.

Don’t be deterred by your shape if that has been an issue – lingerie comes in all sizes, and can only help to release your inner beauty so that you can start loving yourself again.

Valentine’s Day – Welcome To The Channel Of Love

Valentine’s Day – Welcome To The Channel Of Love

We are all so excited that our two year anniversary is coming up, and on the most romantic and celebrated day of the year – Valentine’s Day on the 14 February.

There has been a flurry of excitement around the office as we prepare for our own celebrations, and we are making this a landmark occasion as we move towards our big Birthday and all that we have achieved over the past two years.

We have taken part in numerous Charity events and are in the process of hosting an historic event at The Landmark Hotel on the 6 May – The Pink FAB Ball – raising funds and awareness for the incredible Charity – Breast Cancer Care.

We have received our very own stamp frames around our family’s most iconic character Lady Penelope from The Royal Mail.

During this time we have seen the screening of Thunderbirds with the relaunch from ITV, with our very own co-creator Sylvia Anderson returning as Great Aunt Sylvia in one of the episodes.

We have partnered with some iconic and innovative organisations, and made fabulous new friends and brought inspiration and joy to many from our fantastic team of writers and innovators.

While we are on the subject, did you know that Valentine’s Day was first associated with romantic love around the time of Geoffrey Chaucer in the Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. In the 18th-century England it took on another life, and became an occasion when lovers expressed their feelings for each other with flowers, cards and love hearts, as it is today.   It is now an international occasion, and one that is Universally celebrated.

So back to today, and I know you will all be holding your breath and waiting for some ideas for your own celebrations.  Well as you can imagine we have been working hard to give you some ideas so that you are all ahead of the game and will give you time to order or book your meal, and here they are.

Vintage Remedies From Granny’s Kitchen.

Vintage Remedies From Granny’s Kitchen.

This week on GloTIME we have been talking a lot about the stars of stage and screen and the Oscars and the Grammies. Now it is time to get back down to earth and take a tip from our Grannies.

They say the best remedies are the ones handed down from our ancestors, and remembering hours of happy times in my own Grandma’s kitchen, I would like to share some of her special tips along with other great vintage solutions.

Ten top tips:

  • When cleaning steel cutlery, add a little bicarbonate soda to take off those extra stubborn stains.
  • Red Wine stains can be removed by pouring salt over the area and leaving for several hours.
  • Candle wax spilled on clothes or furniture can be easily eradicated by ironing over the offending area with thick brown wrapping paper – the wax will be absorbed into the paper.  For excessive damage, repeat the procedure until all the wax is removed.
  • A dab of toothpaste is recommended for stubborn stains on clothes and crayon marks on the walls.
  • Ballpoint ink marks can be removed by rubbing them with a dab of clear alcohol.
  • Clean laminates with baking soda and water paste on stains for 10 to 15 minutes and wipe up with a wet cloth
  • Pots and pans that are stained can be cleaned with white vinegar, soak them for thirty minutes or more and then rinse in hot soapy water.
  • Add a few drops of olive oil into hard water which will make the soap lather easier and keep the skin from getting rough.
  • Ketchup is amazing when cleaning copper pots and pans – they come up a treat.
  • Peanut butter is a great remedy for removing labels and stains from glassware and porcelain dolls or ornaments.
  • We would like to hear from you with any special ‘hand me down’ tips that we can share on GloTIME.  After all, we can all do with a little help from our Grans.  Ooops I can feel a song coming on
