When I spoke to Barry Cryer yesterday he was in great form as always, but lamenting the loss of three of his greatest friends and allies, Sylvia Anderson, Ronnie Corbett and Paul Daniels.
Barry is at the top of his game and at the pinnacle of his profession, even at the tender age of 81, and has no intention of slowing down, because as he said – why change the habit of a lifetime.

I am delighted to announce that Barry has agreed to compare The Pink FAB Ball on May 6 at The Landmark Hotel as it is of course a tribute to the late and great Sylvia Anderson, and in association with her favourite Charity – Breast Cancer Care. So who better to host it than one of her closest friends.
As well as a legendary comedy writer for stars like Ronnie Corbett, Frankie Howard, Billy Connelly and Bob Hope, Barry has also appeared in numerous television and radio programmes, such as The Two Ronnies and the long running radio show, Sorry I Haven’t a Clue.
Barry has also been awarded numerous accolades and awards for contributions to his Industry and written and performed prestigious theatre productions, including his own one man show which was a complete sell out throughout the UK in the Nineties.
Barry continues his work today on radio and television, and recently appeared as part of the tribute programme for the late Ronnie Corbett.
But Barry is not just paying tribute to the late and greats, he is still very much in the thick of it, and writing and performing for his next venture.
Barry has promised to keep us posted at Glotime.tv of all his showbiz plans, and so we will report back to you soon. He will also be doing an exclusive interview.
A real class act –Barry Cryer is original Show Biz Royalty, and part of legendary breed.
If you want to see Barry live, you can still buy tickets to The Pink FAB Ball by clicking onto the tab in its name, and the link to Red Box. All proceeds go to Breast Cancer Care.

The terminology BROW BEATEN holds strong the significance of the Eyebrow. In recent years our attention has been redirected into this important feature of the face and it is important to investigate what works for you.
The Eye Brow can determine a mood or emotion and can even give a more youthful look if carefully repositioned or reconstructed.
Threading is now taking over from tweezers, and you can source an inexpensive expert in most areas, who will redefine the brow area with just a bit of discomfort and a great deal of long lasting satisfaction. It will last around six weeks.
I have recently discovered a couple of unattractive grey hairs sprouting up around the brow area, and shock horror at my tender age, in panic I attacked them with tweezers to find that I took out some other good healthy dark ones which immediately threw the brow out of shape with a bald patch. A hard lesson learnt, and I am now really disciplined and make sure it is done professionally every time.
Waxing is another option and equally as effective but perhaps slightly less long lasting, and a tad more painful. But I have experimented with both options, depending on availability and accessibility to an appropriate Salon, and threading is the one I would recommend.
A recent ‘find’ is the Wonderbrow which is an amazing answer to a Maiden’s Prayer, and should be investigated. It very speedily creates a think perfect brow and comes highly recommended by fashion experts and celebrities. It is also reasonably priced around twenty quid, and lasts for quite a while too.
Talking of Celebs and Icons, a recent campaign eliminated the image of the brow from photographs of certain stars, and they were as a result unrecognisable. You wouldn’t think that it would make such a difference to the face, but it demonstrates the importance of the Eye Brow.
When you think about it, circus clowns and mime artists practically speak with their brow, and communicate moods without sound as in Silent Movies back in the day. If you have seen a rerun of a one, you will remember those big heavy brows!
It is known that predators in the jungle can read danger on the brow of certain species of animals by the position of their brow, which is why this area of the face is so important to keep in good shape.
If you are taking this seriously and want to make a drastic change you can even invest in a brow tattoo which will alter your look completely. But do not act in haste, as this takes careful planning, and you must not be brow beaten into hasty action.
Hope I have got you thinking, such is the power of the Brow.

As part of the Glotime UK Challenge, we share a formally closely guarded secret as we explore the idyllic fishing village of Hope Cove in Devon.
During the War many young evacuees were scattered across the countryside to escape the air raids that were excelling across the Capital.
One of the children to be sent away by their parents was a young Sylvia Thomas and her sister Betty, alongside Sylvia’s classmate Julia.
As they embarked the train with hundreds of other kids, they had no idea where they were heading, but were among the lucky ones who arrived at Hope Cove to be chosen by the local residents who had been elected to house children in their care.

Sylvia and Betty were the last to be selected, perhaps because of their less than glamorous attire, as they believed in later years, with their ‘pudding basin’ hairstyles, as their mother believed that if they looked ‘ordinary’ they would be selected by good well meaning folk – she was ahead of her time.
Her plan worked and Sylvia and Betty were indeed chosen by a hearty farmer husband and wife who fed them fresh produce every day and treated them as family, being childless through no fault of their own. Sylvia and Betty stayed in touch with them for years after the war ended, and visited them every year until their passing in the early eighties.
So Hope Cove was the place they spent those troubled War Time years, and yet it was a place they played safely and without fear. Remembering recently – Sylvia spoke of plays that she and Betty rehearsed and performed within the rocky inclines on the beach with their friend Julia and other children who had also been evacuated from London.
You have probably guessed that Sylvia Thomas was indeed our very own Sylvia Anderson who has recently passed away, and who went on to become one of the first Film Producers in the UK in the sixties and the creator of the iconic Lady Penelope and co-creator of Thunderbirds and a host of other programmes. She also co-founded Glotime.tv.

These days, Hope Cove still lives up to its name and is a top rated five star holiday destination. It is a beautiful coastal sanctuary, and the picturesque fishing Village of Hope Cove is two villages in one – Outer and Inner Hope. At Inner Hope there is a collection of cob or stone cottages around a tiny square.
The Village of Hope Cove nestles in the shelter of Bolt Tail in the curve of Bigbury Bay, with clean sandy beaches and delightful and varied scenery along the rugged Coastline.
Perhaps you too could cherish the beauty and simplicity that Hope Cove offers for you, and as you do, remember how it became a refuge for so many young people when they needed it the most.
