Barry Cryer OBE – A Real Class Act

Barry Cryer OBE – A Real Class Act

When I spoke to Barry Cryer yesterday he was in great form as always, but lamenting the loss of three of his greatest friends and allies, Sylvia Anderson, Ronnie Corbett and Paul Daniels.

Barry is at the top of his game and at the pinnacle of his profession, even at the tender age of 81, and has no intention of slowing down, because as he said – why change the habit of a lifetime.

I am delighted to announce that Barry has agreed to compare The Pink FAB Ball on May 6 at The Landmark Hotel as it is of course a tribute to the late and great Sylvia Anderson, and in association with her favourite Charity – Breast Cancer Care. So who better to host it than one of her closest friends.

As well as a legendary comedy writer for stars like Ronnie Corbett, Frankie Howard, Billy Connelly and Bob Hope, Barry has also appeared in numerous television and radio programmes, such as The Two Ronnies and the long running radio show, Sorry I Haven’t a Clue.

Barry has also been awarded numerous accolades and awards for contributions to his Industry and written and performed prestigious theatre productions, including his own one man show which was a complete sell out throughout the UK in the Nineties.

Barry continues his work today on radio and television, and recently appeared as part of the tribute programme for the late Ronnie Corbett.

But Barry is not just paying tribute to the late and greats, he is still very much in the thick of it, and writing and performing for his next venture.

Barry has promised to keep us posted at Glotime.tv of all his showbiz plans, and so we will report back to you soon. He will also be doing an exclusive interview.

A real class act –Barry Cryer is original Show Biz Royalty, and part of legendary breed.

If you want to see Barry live, you can still buy tickets to The Pink FAB Ball by clicking onto the tab in its name, and the link to Red Box.   All proceeds go to Breast Cancer Care.

Thunderbirds Creator Sylvia Anderson Has Died

Thunderbirds Creator Sylvia Anderson Has Died

SYLVIA ANDERSON the legendary co-creator of Thunderbirds and a host of television shows spanning five decades, has died following a short illness at her home in Bray, Buckinghamshire.

Tributes have been pouring in from all over the World from fans of the original programmes, whose lives were transformed by Sylvia’s creativity and genuine love for her characters. The most famous was the charismatic Lady Penelope, which was visually based on its creator and was also voiced by Sylvia.[vc_column_text]Daughter of a Boxing Champion and Dressmaker from South London, Sylvia was one of the first female film producers in the UK to make a mark with her innovative programming and creativity. In recent years Sylvia has worked as Head of Programming for HBO in the UK, and has been writing a television series with her daughter Dee Anderson entitled ‘The Last Station’.

Sylvia recently appeared at a convention hosted by Fanderson the fan club for Sylvia and her late husband Gerry, and was greeted with two standing ovations.

Sylvia had many famous friends, but would always find time to take care of people who were suffering or in need of support. She donated and worked for many charities including Breast Cancer Care, with The Pink FAB Ball which is still going ahead in her memory on 6 May at The Landmark Hotel.[/vc_column_text][thb_image full_width=”” alignment=”center” lightbox=”” image=”14372″][vc_column_text]Sylvia has been succeeded by her daughter Dee Anderson, who is a Singer/Songwriter, and her son Gerry Anderson Junior, an anaesthetist. She has four grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Quote from Dee Anderson:

‘Sylvia was a Mother and a Legend – her intelligence was phenomenal but her creativity and tenacity unchallenged. She was a force in every way, and will be sadly missed.’[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row parallax=”” parallax_image=”” row_id=”” column_padding=”” full_width_row=”” equal_height=”” full_height=”” vertical_center=”” enable_parallax=”” parallax_speed=”0.5″ bg_video_src_mp4=”” bg_video_src_ogv=”” bg_video_src_webm=”” bg_video_overlay_color=”” mouse_scroll=””][vc_column width=”1/1″ fixed=”” animation=”” full_height=”” enable_parallax=”” parallax_speed=”0.5″][thb_image full_width=”” alignment=”left” lightbox=”” image=”14369″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row parallax=”” parallax_image=”” row_id=”” column_padding=”” full_width_row=”” equal_height=”” full_height=”” vertical_center=”” enable_parallax=”” parallax_speed=”0.5″ bg_video_src_mp4=”” bg_video_src_ogv=”” bg_video_src_webm=”” bg_video_overlay_color=”” mouse_scroll=””][vc_column width=”1/1″ fixed=”” animation=”” full_height=”” enable_parallax=”” parallax_speed=”0.5″][vc_column_text]
