The Magic and Mystique of Marilyn Monroe

The Magic and Mystique of Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe has been heralded as one of the most iconic female sex symbols to emerge out of Hollywood in the past 50 years.  Men and Women alike pay homage to her image, including Stephen Hawking, who practically possesses the secret of the Universe and still finds Marilyn a hypnotic enigma.

Whatever it was that made Marilyn the icon she is today is still a mystery, but some of the source is revealed in a book found in my Mother Sylvia’s collection since her sad passing in 2016.

The images are strong and the narrative uplifting, and I felt it should be resurrected for another generation of Marilyn fans. It is called THE BIRTH OF MARILYN and contains formerly lost photographs of Norma Jean by Joseph Jasgur – the author is Jeannie Sakol.

On investigation, the book is still available on Amazon, and for those of you who want to own such a record of the legendary movie star, here is a hint of what is in store if you do.

It documents Norma Jean’s ‘Steps to Stardom’ from the outset.

‘My arrival in school, with painted lips and darkened brows, started everyone buzzing. Why I was a siren. I hadn’t the faintest idea. I didn’t want to be kissed, and I didn’t dream of being seduced by a duke or a movie star. The truth was that with all my lipstick and mascara and precocious curves, I was as unresponsive as a fossil. But I seemed to affect people quite otherwise’ Marilyn Monroe.

Most of us know that Marilyn’s life was tainted with tragedy, similar to that of Princess Diana, and it is ironic that they both suffered untimely deaths at the age of 37.

The book reveals shots of Marilyn as a young budding model, her first contract and aspirations including her most precious ambitions. Her thoughts also resonate with young women starting out as models or actresses today – not a lot has changed:

I used to think as I looked out on the Hollywood night – there must be thousands of girls sitting alone like me, dreaming of becoming a movie star. But I’m not going to worry about them. I’m dreaming the hardest. Marilyn Monroe.

What is most appealing as I read into the dreams of the young girl starting out in 1946 is her refreshing naivety and untainted aspirations – a revelation to all of you who love Marilyn or those who are just discovering her as a world phenomenon.

Catwalk at the Oscars

Catwalk at the Oscars

The Academy Awards, or “Oscars”, is an annual American awards ceremony hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to pay homage to the best productions to emerge out of the United States movie industry.

The various category winners are awarded a copy of a statuette, officially called the Academy Award of Merit, which has become commonly known by its nickname “Oscar.” The awards, first presented in 1929 at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, are overseen by AMPAS.

The awards ceremony was first broadcast to radio in 1930 and televised for first time in 1953. It is now seen live in more than 200 countries and can be streamed live online. The Oscars is the oldest entertainment awards ceremony; its equivalents, the Emmy Awards for television, the Tony Awards for theatre, and the Grammy Awards for music and recording, are modeled after the Academy Awards.

Well, this is how it is described on Wikipedia – but reading between the lines as we celebrate the 89th Oscar award ceremony this year, there are a lot more layers to the ceremony which have emerged over the past decades.

Top designers have seized an opportunity to present their most valued creations before an international audience desperate to emulate the Hollywood elite.

So let’s look back at some of the fashions that have donned the red carpet and the stars they have adorned.

The Power Of Love – Secrets From The Man Cave

The Power Of Love – Secrets From The Man Cave

Sexual attraction is a very powerful tool, which has been the downfall or the building of empires throughout history, dating back to when time began, with the forbidden apple of Adam and Eve.

In recent times, it has been attributed to young women in their ‘prime’, with the more visual allure of physical beauty and aesthetics.

But the truth is out and the power of sex is not just a young man or woman’s attribute, and is not a thing endowed on the beautiful or the rich and famous, as our modern tabloids lead us to believe.

A well-known psycho-analyst who prefers to remain anonymous as he is writing a book on the subject, refers to this widely covered phenomenon and confesses that as a secret from the man cave, it is a myth invented by men to ‘control’ women. He states that when the source of this safely guarded secret is revealed he could be lynched by men for all eternity.

He went on to tell us that his best relationship was with a woman twenty years his senior, and three times his weight. He also upholds the challenge from males and females alike in the wake of this revelation, saying that it is across the board for men in general.

So how quickly are we to believe this ‘new man’, or this liberating revelation? How nice would it be if we didn’t feel intimidated after the age of 30 to be young and slim and have long legs and big boobs and perfect skin.

We have studied this expose and tapped my own research bank to trash the myth and help our sisters to find their sexuality whatever age or shape or beauty.

Take our Prince Charles with the much maligned Camilla for instance. If you had put her up against Diana as a candidate for sexuality and love with our popular belief system, who would you have chosen?

That is just one example. I have another with a friend who is well into her fifties, overweight and not conventionally beautiful, but is a steaming hot bed of sexuality, who has men dropping at her feet, let alone in and out of her bedroom.

How many times do you look at couples who don’t add up to the belief system, with the male partner being ‘better looking’ than the lady, but are deliriously happy and enjoying good sex. It can work the other way round too, but that is another discussion.

It may be that it is too much to take on a lifetime of cover up and discover that we have been duped in one hit. But imagine for a moment it were true. It may be that you have issues relating to age related body image, or have always been ashamed of the way you look.

It could also be that you are aiming for perfection, and we all know that all models are airbrushed these days, so perfection is impossible. But it does not stop us endlessly aiming to drop a dress size or turn the clock back. Nothing wrong with looking good or keeping fit and healthy, but unrealistic goals are not good for morale or long term confidence and body image.

The Goddess of love and sexuality will be celebrating with us as we speak, as these secrets are revealed, and feel she has guided us to this discovery to confirm that our ‘man spy’ could be well on course.
